Beginner Tap Dance Series! Drop-ins welcome, No Tap Shoes required!
Absolute Beginner Tap Class, Wednesday 3:30-4:20
No Tap dance experience required! An introduction to Tap dance, this class will focus on basic elements of Tap including vocabulary, musicality and technique. Drop-ins welcome, all sessions are suggested to begin developing a Tap dance foundation. Tap shoes not required (hard-soled shoes will be fine for this series). If you have never Tap danced before, please take the Absolute Beginner Tap Class.

Do you know what a Shuffle is? How about a flap? Then this class might be for you!
This class is geared towards people with some basic Tap dance experience. Taught at a slow pace, this class will focus on the fundamentals of Tap dance. We will build on basic movement vocabulary, musicality and technique through warm up sequences and rhythmic choreography. Content can be adapted for advanced beginner students. Drop-ins welcome, all sessions suggested.
Vanessa is available for individual or group dance lessons, choreography for events, and curriculum development workshops!
Vanessa Sanchez is an accomplished teaching artist in the San Francisco Bay Area with 15 years of teaching experience. Holding a B.A. in Child Development and Dance Education, she is able to create curriculum and choreography to meet the different needs of different students. Currently teaching for various non-profit organizations including Dance Mission Theater, Loco Bloco and the World Dance Program at Ruth Asawa’s School of the Arts, she teaches a wide range of dance styles and ages!
Vanessa’s teaching experience ranges from Pre-school aged Creative Movement dance classes to advanced choreography for performances, auditions and special events! With her extensive dance background, styles available include Tap, Jazz, Afro-Caribbean (Brazilian, Cuban, Haitian), Bhangra, Bollywood, and various partner style dances.
Vanessa is also skilled in mentoring new Teaching Artists and facilitating curriculum development workshops that focus on creating developmentally appropriate dance/movement lesson plans that draw on technique building and social awareness.
